The DSSMT-01L is the wide-format version of the smallest-stone tray in the Semsons range. Same 0.8–1.2 mm micro-pavé band, same calibrated (Z10) pocket geometry, same 502 and 502B nozzle pairing — laid out across a long 30 × 85 grid of 2,550 pockets instead of the compact 40 × 80. What changes is the shape of the tray, not the way it feeds stones.
Sub-millimetre stones punish imprecision. At 0.8 mm, a pocket that is a few microns out sends the nozzle to where the stone is not, and the resulting gap in the wax only shows up after casting — when fixing it costs metal, labour and a rework slot. Wide-format or compact, that tolerance is the same on both, because both are machined to the coordinate map our setters actually run.

Wide-format and compact trays cover the same stone bands; what differs is the footprint of the tray itself. Which one you need is decided by the tray holder on your machine, not by preference. If you are ordering a wide-format tray for the first time, send us your machine model and we will confirm the fit before dispatch. The compact equivalent of this tray is DSSMT-01 (40 × 80 grid, 3,200 stones).
Long trays flex more than short ones if you handle them by one end, and a flexed tray is a tray with inconsistent pocket depth. Carry it supported, store it flat and unstacked, empty it by inversion rather than sweeping, and blow it out with clean dry air. Keep solvents off the pocket faces — scoring or etching changes pocket depth, and depth is what the nozzle is calibrated against.
Match three things and you cannot go wrong: the stone size band (0.8 – 1.2 mm for this tray), the nozzle already fitted to your machine (502 or 502B), and your machine model. If any of the three does not match, order the tray next to it on the ladder above instead — or send us your machine model and stone size and we will confirm it for you before dispatch.
Yes — this tray is dimensioned for Semsons Tech Mini Pro, Pro Series, Pro Plus and Double Head 8 Nozzle wax setting machines. It is not a generic import tray cut to a nominal size; the pocket pitch is machined to the coordinate map our setters actually use, which is what keeps pickup accurate from the first stone to the last.
Stay inside the published band. Stones under the band sit too deep for the nozzle to seat against, and oversized stones bridge across the pocket mouth and get knocked aside on the next pass. Both show up as skipped positions in the wax, which you only discover after casting.
Most production floors keep one tray per size band they actually run, plus a spare of their highest-volume band. On double-station and double-head machines a second tray removes the reload pause entirely — you pre-fill one while the other is on the bed.
Empty it by inversion over a sorting pad rather than brushing stones across the pockets, blow out dust with clean dry air, and store it flat. Never stack loaded trays, and keep solvents off the pocket faces — anything that etches or scores a pocket changes its depth, and depth is what the nozzle is calibrated against.
