The SSMWT-03 is the most flexible tray in the wide-format ladder. Its pockets are cut for the 1.7–1.9 mm accent and halo sizes that frame a centre stone, but they seat 1.5–1.6 mm cleanly as well — so a single tray covers the entire working range of the 503B nozzle. On a floor where one design mixes a halo band with pavé fill, that is one changeover you stop making.
At this size a stone is big enough to be visibly wrong. A 1.8 mm accent that sits proud or drops low reads immediately in the finished halo, and unlike micro-pavé there is no crowd to hide it in. The pocket depth here puts the girdle exactly where the 503B expects it, so placement height stays constant across all 2,550 positions and across repeat runs of the same design.

Wide-format and compact trays cover the same stone bands; what differs is the footprint of the tray itself. Which one you need is decided by the tray holder on your machine, not by preference. If you are ordering a wide-format tray for the first time, send us your machine model and we will confirm the fit before dispatch. The compact equivalent of this tray is DSSMT-03 (40 × 80 grid, 3,200 stones).
Support the tray along its length when you carry it — long trays flex, and flex means inconsistent pocket depth. Invert to empty, blow out with clean dry air, store flat and unstacked. Check pocket rims under a loupe every few hundred hours; a sharp, bright rim is what keeps a 1.9 mm round sitting square rather than tilted.
Match three things and you cannot go wrong: the stone size band (1.7 – 1.9 mm (also takes 1.5 – 1.6 mm) for this tray), the nozzle already fitted to your machine (503B), and your machine model. Yes — this tray is dimensioned for Semsons Tech Mini Pro, Pro Series, Pro Plus and Double Head 8 Nozzle wax setting machines. It is not a generic import tray cut to a nominal size; the pocket pitch is machined to the coordinate map our setters actually use, which is what keeps pickup accurate from the first stone to the last.
Stay inside the published band. Stones under the band sit too deep for the nozzle to seat against, and oversized stones bridge across the pocket mouth and get knocked aside on the next pass. Both show up as skipped positions in the wax, which you only discover after casting.
Most production floors keep one tray per size band they actually run, plus a spare of their highest-volume band. On double-station and double-head machines a second tray removes the reload pause entirely — you pre-fill one while the other is on the bed.
Empty it by inversion over a sorting pad rather than brushing stones across the pockets, blow out dust with clean dry air, and store it flat. Never stack loaded trays, and keep solvents off the pocket faces — anything that etches or scores a pocket changes its depth, and depth is what the nozzle is calibrated against.
No. The pockets are cut for the larger band and smaller stones seat lower within the same geometry, which the 503B is calibrated to handle. What you gain is one tray instead of two across a common design range.
