The largest tray in the wide-format range. 2.5–3.0 mm rounds are the biggest stones these machines set, and this tray holds them steady — a 15 × 49 deep-pocket grid, 735 positions, matched to the 504 nozzle. For centre stones and statement pieces where every placement is worth money. Same-day dispatch from Mumbai and Rajkot.

The SSMWT-05 sits at the top of the wide-format ladder. At 2.5–3.0 mm you are setting the stones a customer actually looks at — centre stones, solitaire surrounds, the placements that carry the retail price of the piece. Deep pockets across a 15 × 49 matrix hold each round square and level so the 504 nozzle lifts it clean, every time, across all 735 positions.
This is the band where automation has to earn trust. Hand-setting 3 mm stones is slow but predictable; automating them is fast but only as predictable as the tray underneath. The deep-pocket geometry is what makes the trade worth taking — it removes the rocking and tilting a shallow pocket allows at this mass, so the machine places a 3 mm round as repeatably as it places a 1 mm one.

Wide-format and compact trays cover the same stone bands; what differs is the footprint of the tray itself. Which one you need is decided by the tray holder on your machine, not by preference. If you are ordering a wide-format tray for the first time, send us your machine model and we will confirm the fit before dispatch. The compact equivalent of this tray is DSSMT-05 (20 × 40 grid, 800 stones). Note that SSMWT-04 and this tray share the 504 nozzle, so you can work anywhere from 2.0 to 3.0 mm with one nozzle and two trays.
The heaviest stones you will run deserve the cleanest pockets you can keep. Blow out with clean dry air between fills, invert to empty rather than sweeping, store flat and supported along its length, and inspect pocket rims under a loupe periodically. At this size a single deformed pocket is not a statistic — it is one expensive stone placed wrong.
Match three things and you cannot go wrong: the stone size band (2.5 – 3.0 mm for this tray), the nozzle already fitted to your machine (504), and your machine model. If any of the three does not match, order the tray next to it on the ladder above instead — or send us your machine model and stone size and we will confirm it for you before dispatch.
Yes — this tray is dimensioned for Semsons Tech Mini Pro, Pro Series, Pro Plus and Double Head 8 Nozzle wax setting machines. It is not a generic import tray cut to a nominal size; the pocket pitch is machined to the coordinate map our setters actually use, which is what keeps pickup accurate from the first stone to the last.
Stay inside the published band. Stones under the band sit too deep for the nozzle to seat against, and oversized stones bridge across the pocket mouth and get knocked aside on the next pass. Both show up as skipped positions in the wax, which you only discover after casting.
Most production floors keep one tray per size band they actually run, plus a spare of their highest-volume band. On double-station and double-head machines a second tray removes the reload pause entirely — you pre-fill one while the other is on the bed.
Empty it by inversion over a sorting pad rather than brushing stones across the pockets, blow out dust with clean dry air, and store it flat. Never stack loaded trays, and keep solvents off the pocket faces — anything that etches or scores a pocket changes its depth, and depth is what the nozzle is calibrated against.
3.0 mm is the top of the standard tray and nozzle ladder. If your work regularly goes above it, talk to us before you buy — the answer depends on your machine model and the design, and we would rather tell you honestly than sell you a tray that will not do the job.
The SSMWT-05 ships same-day from our Mumbai and Rajkot warehouses, across India and to the 34+ countries we export to. Buying a full set of wide-format SSMWT trays to cover your whole size range, or restocking several of one band for a multi-machine floor? Ask for set pricing rather than ordering them one at a time.
Semsons Tech has supplied the Indian jewellery trade since 1978, with 16+ stores and warehouses, 450+ dealers and 40+ distributors behind every consumable we sell.
