Portable XRF Gold Analyzer — Non-Destructive Gold Purity Testing Machine

Tests gold, silver and platinum purity in 5 to 60 seconds with no scratching and no acid. Place the item inside, press test, read the karat and metal breakdown on screen.

No damage to the piece — no acid, no filing, no marks
0 to 24K — exact karat, not a rough range
Catches gold plating — alerts when only the surface is gold
Catches tungsten-filled bars — the fake acid and density tests miss
Reads 15 metals at once — gold, silver, platinum, copper and more
Safe all day — sealed chamber, X-ray stops when the door opens

For jewellers, bullion traders, gold buyers, gold loan branches and hallmarking centres. Installation and training included.

Portable XRF Gold Analyzer — Non-Destructive Gold Purity Testing Machine

Know the exact purity of any gold piece in under a minute, without leaving a mark on it.

Acid testing scratches the piece, needs dangerous chemicals and still only gives you a rough karat range. With the XRF analyzer you place the item inside, close the door and press test. In 5 to 60 seconds the screen shows the karat, the purity percentage and every metal in the alloy. Nothing is scratched, nothing is filed, and the customer gets the piece back exactly as they handed it over.

How It Works

The machine sends a very low-power X-ray at the item. Every metal reacts to X-rays in its own way and sends back its own signal. The detector reads those signals, and the computer works out which metals are present and how much of each. From that it calculates the karat. This is why the test is exact and why it is non-destructive. Nothing touches the piece except light.

How to Use It

  1. Place the item in the chamber and close the door. The built-in camera shows you the exact spot being tested, so you can aim at the metal and not at a stone.
  2. Press test. Choose a quick 5 to 10 second check for buying decisions, or a 60 second test when you need the most exact result, such as for hallmarking.
  3. Read the result. The screen shows the karat, the gold percentage and the full list of metals. Print it or save it if the customer or your records need it.

There is no sample preparation and no chemical to handle.

What It Protects You From

ProblemWhat the analyzer does
Gold-plated brass or copper sold as goldRaises a gold plating alert when only the surface is gold
Tungsten-filled bars and biscuitsSees the tungsten core under the gold layer. Density tests miss this because tungsten weighs almost the same as gold.
Under-karat jewelleryGives the exact karat, not a range. 18K that is really 16K shows up at once.
Lead or cadmium in the alloyReports both, which matters for export orders
Disputes with customersGives a printed report with the full metal breakdown

What You Can Test

Rings, chains, bangles, necklaces and earrings, including pieces with stones set in them. Gold coins, biscuits and bars. Scrap and old gold. Silver and platinum jewellery. Watches and dental alloys. Anything with a metal surface large enough for the 1.5 mm test spot.

Who Uses It

  • Jewellery showrooms checking every piece that comes in and goes out
  • Gold buyers and cash-for-gold counters who need a fast, safe decision on old gold
  • Bullion traders verifying bars and biscuits before payment
  • Gold loan branches valuing customer gold for collateral
  • Hallmarking centres giving official karat certification
  • Refiners confirming output purity before dispatch
  • Manufacturers and exporters who need a purity report with each order
  • Training institutes teaching gold testing on the equipment the trade actually uses

Common Questions

Is it safe to stand next to all day?

Yes. The X-ray tube runs at only 4 watts, the chamber is sealed and lead-shielded, and the X-ray switches off automatically the moment the door opens. The machine will not run with the door open. It meets BIS, IEC and FDA radiation safety standards.

Will it damage the jewellery?

No. Nothing touches the piece. There is no scratching, no acid and no filing. The customer gets the item back exactly as it was.

How is this better than acid testing?

Acid gives you a rough range of about 2 to 3 karats either way, damages the piece, and cannot see plating or tungsten fills. XRF gives you the exact karat and the full metal breakdown in seconds, with no damage.

Can it test a piece with stones in it?

Yes. The camera shows you the test spot, so you aim the 1.5 mm spot at the metal and avoid the stone. The stones do not need to be removed.

Does it detect fake gold bars?

Yes. Tungsten-filled bars pass density tests because tungsten weighs almost the same as gold. XRF reads the composition and flags the tungsten core under the gold layer.

How long does a test take?

Between 5 and 60 seconds. Use the quick check when you are buying from the public, and the 60 second precision test when the result is going on a certificate.

How long does the X-ray tube last?

About 8,000 hours of operation, which is roughly 48,000 tests. At 50 tests a day that is over two and a half years. Replacement tubes are stocked by Semsons.

Does it need special power or a special room?

No. It runs on a normal 220–240 V socket and sits on a counter. No separate room or extraction is needed.

Can I print a report for the customer?

Yes. The built-in computer stores every test and prints a report with the karat, purity percentage and metal breakdown. Reports can also be exported over USB or the network.

Is training included?

Yes. A Semsons technician installs the machine, checks radiation safety, calibrates it against reference samples and trains your operator on site.

Pricing, Installation & Support

Price is quoted per configuration, because the detector type and software options change the figure. Send us a WhatsApp message with your daily testing volume and we will quote the right setup. On-site installation, calibration and operator training are included. 1 year warranty, extendable with an annual maintenance contract that covers calibration checks and tube health. Replacement X-ray tubes and calibration reference samples are stocked. EMI options are available through partner banks. Service across 16+ Indian cities.
