Find your stone size in the chart below. It tells you which suction nozzle to fit and which sorting tray to load — the two parts that have to match your stone before an automatic setting machine will run cleanly.

The short answer

Pick the nozzle for your stone size, then pick the tray for that same size.

  • 0.8 – 0.9 mm Nozzle 502
  • 1.0 – 1.2 mm Nozzle 502B
  • 1.3 – 1.4 mm Nozzle 503
  • 1.5 – 1.9 mm Nozzle 503B
  • 2.0 – 3.0 mm Nozzle 504

Five standard trays (DSSMT-01 to DSSMT-05) and five wide-format trays cover the same five sizes. Fitting a nozzle made for a different stone size is the most common reason a setting machine misses stones, drops them and stops.

These are genuine Semsons Tech parts for the X4 Pro Plus and Pro Mini automatic wax setting machines. All of them are held in stock, and are dispatched in about 1 to 2 days from Mumbai and Rajkot.

How to choose, in three steps

  1. Measure your stone. Take the diameter of the round stone in millimetres. Everything on this page is chosen by that one number.
  2. Order the nozzle on that row. Find your size in the chart and fit the nozzle listed beside it. The nozzle is what lifts the stone, so it has to suit the stone's size.
  3. Order the tray on the same row. Choose the standard tray if you want the most stones per load, or the wide-format tray if it suits your bench better. Both hold the same stone sizes.

The pairing chart

Stone size to nozzle and sorting tray, 0.8 mm to 3.0 mm. Every part code links to its product page.
Stone size Nozzle Standard tray Standard tray holds Wide-format tray Wide-format tray holds
0.8 to 0.9 mm 502 DSSMT-01 3,200 stones (40 × 80) DSSMT-01L 2,550 stones (30 × 85)
1.0 to 1.2 mm 502B DSSMT-01 3,200 stones (40 × 80) DSSMT-01L 2,550 stones (30 × 85)
1.3 to 1.4 mm 503 DSSMT-02 3,200 stones (40 × 80) SSMWT-02 2,550 stones (30 × 85)
1.5 to 1.6 mm 503B DSSMT-02 3,200 stones (40 × 80) SSMWT-02 2,550 stones (30 × 85)
1.7 to 1.9 mm 503B DSSMT-03 3,200 stones (40 × 80) SSMWT-03 2,550 stones (30 × 85)
2.0 to 2.5 mm 504 DSSMT-04 800 stones (20 × 40, deep pocket) SSMWT-04 735 stones (15 × 49, deep pocket)
2.5 to 3.0 mm 504 DSSMT-05 800 stones (20 × 40, deep pocket) SSMWT-05 735 stones (15 × 49, deep pocket)

Every tray takes natural diamond, lab-grown diamond (CVD and HPHT), CZ and synthetic round stones. Each tray is marked with the sizes it holds — DSSMT-01, for example, is marked 08-09 for 0.8 to 0.9 mm and 10-11-12 for 1.0 to 1.2 mm — so the operator can check the tray at a glance before loading it.

Standard or wide-format tray?

Both hold the same stone sizes. The difference is how many stones fit in one load, and how much bench space the tray takes.

  • Standard tray More stones per load. 3,200 stones for 0.8 to 1.9 mm, 800 stones for 2.0 to 3.0 mm. Choose this if you want the longest run between refills.
  • Wide-format tray A wider, shallower shape. 2,550 stones for 0.8 to 1.9 mm, 735 stones for 2.0 to 3.0 mm. Choose this if it suits your machine layout or the way your operator loads stones.

Why the bigger trays have deeper pockets

Trays for 2.0 mm and larger use deeper pockets, spaced further apart (a Z5 pitch instead of the Z10 pitch of the smaller trays). A bigger stone needs a deeper seat so it sits flat and stays put while the machine arm moves. In a shallow pocket it tips over, and a tipped stone gets missed.

Deeper pockets are also why the count drops from 3,200 stones to 800: each pocket is bigger, so fewer fit on the tray. The matching 504 nozzle pulls harder, because a bigger stone is heavier to lift.

When to change a nozzle

Nozzles wear out with use. Each one is a machined steel tip with a rubber sealing sleeve on a stainless shaft, and it picks the stone up by suction through the tip.

Change the nozzle when it starts missing stones it used to pick up cleanly. That is the sleeve wearing out, and it shows up long before the tip looks worn. Keeping one spare of each nozzle you use is the cheapest way to avoid a stopped machine.

How to order

Trays, nozzles, setting silicone and mounting bases are all under Consumables. Trays and nozzles are dispatched in about 1 to 2 days, setting silicone and mounting bases the same day, and everything on this page is delivered across India.

Common questions

Can one nozzle handle more than one stone size?

Yes, within the size range it is made for. The 503B covers 1.5 to 1.9 mm and the 504 covers 2.0 to 3.0 mm. Outside that range, no: the suction is matched to the stone, so a nozzle that is too small will not lift the stone and one that is too big will not let go of it cleanly.

Do I need a separate tray for every stone size?

No. Five trays cover 0.8 to 3.0 mm. Most workshops running mixed small stones keep DSSMT-01 and DSSMT-02 in constant use, and add the bigger trays when centre-stone work needs them.

Which tray does the 503B nozzle work with?

Two of them: DSSMT-02 for 1.5 to 1.6 mm stones, and DSSMT-03 for 1.7 to 1.9 mm stones. It is the only nozzle in the range that covers stones from two different trays.

Do these fit the Pro Mini and X4 Pro Plus machines?

Yes. The same trays and nozzles fit both Semsons Tech automatic wax setting machines — the single-station Pro Mini and the double-station X4 Pro Plus. Confirm your model with sales when you order spares.

How many stones does a tray hold?

A standard tray holds 3,200 stones per full load for 0.8 to 1.9 mm stones, and 800 stones for 2.0 to 3.0 mm stones in the deep-pocket sizes. Wide-format trays hold 2,550 and 735. The X4 Pro Plus feeds from four trays at once, so it runs with 12,800 stones loaded.
