ST810 note counting machine guide: parts of the machine, how to use it, counting modes and the four note checks

Semsons Tech ST810 Note Counting Machine - Currency Counter with UV, MG, IR and Double Note Detection

Counts up to 900 notes a minute and checks each note with UV, MG, IR and DD detection as it passes.

A note counting machine counts a stack of banknotes for you and checks each note for signs of a fake. The ST810 does it at up to 900 notes a minute, with ultraviolet, magnetic, infrared and size checks. You place the notes in the hopper, the machine starts by itself, and the count shows on the display. It sits on a shop counter, a cash desk or an office table.

Counting by Hand vs the ST810

Counting by hand works for a few notes. At closing time, on a busy counter or with a full day's collection, it costs time and lets mistakes through.

Counting by handWith the ST810
Note by note, often twice to be sureUp to 900 notes a minute, so a 100-note bundle passes through in under 10 seconds
A long count can be off by a note or twoA sensor counts every note, and the half-note, chained-note and double-note checks catch the notes that throw a count off
A fake note is caught only if someone looks closelyWith UV, MG and IR switched on, every note is checked and the machine stops on a suspect one
Bundles of 100 are counted out one at a timeBATCH stops at 100 notes (the preset), ready for a band
Several stacks mean adding totals on paperADD keeps a running total across stacks

How It Works

Rollers draw the notes from the hopper one by one and pass each note over the sensors. A counting sensor records every note. The UV sensor checks the paper under ultraviolet light, the MG sensor looks for the magnetic ink genuine notes carry, the IR sensor checks the note under infrared light, and the DD sensor checks its size. When a check finds a suspect note, the machine stops and shows a code so you can take that note out. Counted notes collect in the stacker at the front.

How to Use It

  1. Connect and switch on. Plug the supplied power cord into the back of the machine and into an earthed socket, then switch on at the back. The machine checks itself for about five seconds and the display shows 0 when it is ready. If a code shows instead, see Codes on the Display in the Specifications tab.
  2. Choose the settings. Pick the counting mode and the checks you need before you load the notes, from Keys and Modes in the Specifications tab.
  3. Prepare the notes. Do not count wet, dirty or badly damaged notes. Take out paper clips, rubber bands, pins and dust, and straighten folded corners.
  4. Load the hopper. Place up to 130 notes in the hopper the way the manual shows, and set the note guides to the longest note in the stack.
  5. Count. In AUTO mode counting starts as soon as the notes are in the hopper. In MANUAL mode, press START.
  6. Read the display and lift the notes out of the stacker.

Counterfeit Detection

CheckWhat it looks at
UV (ultraviolet)Fake notes are often printed on white or bleached paper that glows under ultraviolet light
MG (magnetic)The magnetic ink that genuine notes carry
IR (infrared)Features of the note that show under infrared light
DD (dimension)The size of each note
Half, chained and double notesA torn half note, notes stuck together in a chain, and two notes passing as one

These checks help you catch a suspect note while you count. When one finds a problem, the machine stops and shows a code. No counting machine catches every counterfeit, so check any note it stops on by hand before you accept it.

Note Thickness

The thickness knob is on the back of the machine. Set it so the notes feed smoothly, and change it a little at a time, testing with a few notes.

  • Notes run too hard or too slowly: turn the knob clockwise to open the gap between the feed rollers.
  • The machine stops often and shows a code: turn the knob slightly anticlockwise to close the gap.

Codes on the Display

CodeWhat it means
EE1UV check
EE2, E61MG (magnetic) check
E71, E72MT (edge magnetic) check
EE4Half note
EE5Notes stuck in a chain
EEASkewed note
C01, C02Left or right IR sensor (start-up check)
C03Speed sensor (start-up check)
C04Hopper sensor (start-up check)
C05Stacker sensor (start-up check)
C07UV sensor (start-up check)
C60, C61, C64Left, right or large MG sensor (start-up check)
C90Buttons (start-up check)

An EE or E code while counting means the machine has stopped on a note: take that note out and check it. A C code at switch-on means a sensor needs attention: switch off, brush the sensors clean and switch on again. If a C code keeps coming back, call us.

Troubleshooting

ProblemWhat to check
No powerThe power cord connection and the fuse. A spare fuse is in the box.
On, but not countingBrush the hopper sensor clean. If it still does not count, call us: the sensor cable and the belt are a job for our service team.
Wrong countSet the note thickness (Note Thickness, above) and brush the counting sensor clean. A worn feed wheel is replaced by our service team.
Wrong detectionBrush the UV sensor clean. The UV and MG sensitivity can be adjusted from the settings menu, as the manual shows.
Stops often and shows a codeTurn the thickness knob slightly anticlockwise, and check the notes for damage.

Care and Cleaning

  • Switch off before you clean the machine.
  • Clean all the sensors with a soft brush and cloth, so paper dust does not build up on the light sensors.
  • Clean the inside of the machine now and then.
  • Never use water, liquid or spray cleaners.
  • Unplug it when it will not be used for a long time, and keep the dust cover on.

Safe Use

  • Use only the power cord supplied with the machine, in an earthed wall socket.
  • Do not use the machine with a damaged cord. Do not put things on the cord or bend it sharply.
  • Pull the plug, not the cord, when you unplug it.
  • Keep it away from water, high heat and high humidity.
  • Do not open the machine. Repairs are for a trained technician.

Who Uses It

  • Jewellery showrooms and bullion counters - large cash payments counted and checked in front of the customer
  • Supermarkets and retail stores - every till counted at closing, so the day's cash is reconciled sooner
  • Grocery and medical stores - the day's takings counted before they go to the bank
  • Petrol pumps - cash from every shift counted and checked before handover
  • Wholesalers and distributors - market collections counted into bundles of 100

Common Questions

What is a note counting machine?

An electronic machine that counts a stack of banknotes automatically and checks each note for signs of a fake. Businesses that handle cash every day use one to count faster and to cut down on counting mistakes.

What is the ST810?

A note counting machine, also called a currency counting machine or bill counter. It counts banknotes at up to 900 notes a minute and checks them with UV, MG, IR and DD (dimension) detection.

What is the price of the ST810?

₹5,399 including 18% GST. That is the festival season offer, 40% off the ₹8,999 MRP. Delivery anywhere in India is free, and the GST amount is shown separately in the cart and on your proforma invoice.

How fast does it count, and how many notes does it hold?

It counts 900 notes per minute. The hopper and the stacker each hold 130 notes, so a 100-note bundle goes in at once.

Does it detect fake notes?

It checks every note with UV, MG, IR and DD detection while you count, and stops with a code on a suspect note. No machine catches every counterfeit, so check any note it stops on by hand.

What do UV, MG, IR and DD mean?

UV checks the paper under ultraviolet light, since fake notes are often printed on paper that glows. MG looks for the magnetic ink in genuine notes. IR checks the note under infrared light. DD checks the size of each note.

Does it catch half notes and notes stuck together?

Yes. It has half-note, chained-note and double-note detection. A half note shows code EE4 and notes stuck in a chain show EE5.

How accurate is it?

No accuracy percentage is published for the ST810. A sensor counts every note, and the half-note, chained-note and double-note checks catch the notes that most often throw a count off. Set the note thickness and take out clips, bands and damaged notes for the best result.

Can it count Indian rupees and other currencies?

Yes. It is made for Indian rupee notes, and the CUR key selects other currencies such as the US dollar and the euro. Detection may not work the same way for every currency, so call us before you buy it for notes other than the rupee.

Can it count mixed denominations and show the total value?

It has a mixed counting mode (MIX). Value counting is manual: in VALUE mode you enter the value of the notes and the machine sums it up. It does not read the denomination by itself, so for an exact rupee total, count one denomination at a time.

How does batch counting work?

Press BATCH. The machine counts in batches of the preset 100 notes, so each bundle can be banded as it is counted.

What does the ADD key do?

ADD keeps a running total. If you count 100 notes and then 50 more, the display shows 150 instead of starting again from zero.

Does it have voice prompts?

Yes, in English. Switch them on or off with the VOICE key.

How do I set the note thickness?

Use the knob on the back. If notes run too hard or too slowly, turn it clockwise. If the machine stops often and shows a code, turn it slightly anticlockwise. Test with a few notes after each change.

What does an error code like EE4 or C04 mean?

An EE or E code while counting means the machine stopped on a note, for example EE4 for a half note or EEA for a skewed note. A C code at switch-on points to a sensor, for example C04 for the hopper sensor. The full list is under Codes on the Display in the Specifications tab.

How do I clean and maintain it?

Unplug it, then brush dust and paper bits off the sensors and rollers with the supplied brush or a soft dry cloth, and clean the inside now and then. Never use water or spray cleaners. If a C code keeps coming back, or the count goes wrong after cleaning, call us.

Which businesses use a note counting machine?

Any business that counts cash every day: shops and supermarkets, jewellery showrooms, petrol pumps, wholesalers, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools and the accounts teams of offices. The list above says what each one counts with it.

Is it suitable for banks and NBFCs?

It is used to count and check notes at counters and back offices, with UV, MG, IR and DD checks. It does not sort notes or total the value of a mixed stack, and no bank approval or certification is claimed for it, so check it against your institution's own requirements.

Is delivery free, and when is it dispatched?

Delivery is free anywhere in India. The machine is dispatched within 2 days of your order, and courier delivery usually takes 3–5 working days after that.

Can I get a price for several machines?

Yes. For a chain of counters, branches or resale, call the wholesale desk on +91 80823 38010 for a quote.

How do I order?

Press Buy now or Add to cart, sign in or create an account, and pay online at checkout. Delivery is free, the machine is dispatched within 2 days, and you get a proforma invoice with the GST shown separately.

Can I see it working before I buy?

Yes. The one-minute video at the top of this page shows the ST810 at work. For anything it does not answer, message the sales desk.

What warranty and replacement do I get?

A 1-year warranty from the invoice date, for manufacturing defects. In the first 7 days after delivery, a machine with a manufacturing defect is replaced: send the unboxing video and a video of the defective part on WhatsApp to +91 98216 12340, and we verify it. After 7 days, a verified defect is repaired under warranty. The machine is not returnable.
