Equipment guide · Mumbai

Semsons Tech is a Mumbai company. We have supplied the city's jewellery manufacturers from our Kandivali West office since 1978.

SEEPZ export units, Zaveri Bazaar trade houses and the workshops across Andheri, Malad, Borivali and Goregaon all buy from here. Machines are demonstrated, installed and serviced locally. Stocked spares leave Mumbai the same day. This page covers what Mumbai units buy, how delivery into SEEPZ works, and how to reach the office.

Why is Mumbai a different market?

Mumbai is the centre of machine-made jewellery in India, and SEEPZ is the largest single cluster of modern jewellery manufacturing in the country.

SEEPZ is an export processing zone of roughly 200 acres in Andheri East. More than half of India's studded jewellery exports come out of it. That is worth about $2.75 billion to $3 billion a year. GJEPC and Exim Bank's cluster mapping ranks Mumbai Suburban first among India's 17 high-potential gem and jewellery districts.

In plain terms: a lot of units, packed close together, running high-volume export work to tight tolerances and fixed shipping dates. Two things follow from that, and they shape what Mumbai buys.

  • Output and consistency matter more than the sticker price. A setting line that drifts costs more in rework than the machine ever saved. The number that matters is ±0.02 mm placement, held across a 15,000-stone hour — not the purchase price.
  • Downtime is the real expense. An export unit that misses its shipping window loses the order, not just the day. So spare parts on the shelf and a service engineer who can reach you decide the purchase as often as the specification does.

This is why a Mumbai buyer and a Rajkot buyer often choose differently, even though the machines are the same. Rajkot's silver work has a different volume pattern — see the Rajkot page for that.

Which parts of Mumbai do you cover?

All of it. The office is in Kandivali West, so the western suburbs are a short drive and the rest of the city is same-day reach.

SEEPZ, Andheri East

Export units running continuous studded work. The biggest cluster we serve, and the one that most often runs double-station machines.

Zaveri Bazaar

Trade houses and retail manufacturers. Gold testing and cleaning equipment move fastest here.

Bharat Diamond Bourse, BKC

Diamond merchants and sorting operations. Sorting trays and the portable gold testing machine are the usual buys.

Andheri and Goregaon

Mid-size workshops and job-work units. Often the first step from manual setting to a single-station machine.

Malad and Borivali

Designer studios and smaller workshops. Benchtop machines, trays, nozzles and consumables.

Kandivali West

Our own head office, and the demo room. If you want to see a machine run before deciding, this is where it happens.

How does delivery into SEEPZ work?

SEEPZ is a customs-bonded zone. That means deliveries follow the zone's own gate and documentation procedure, not an ordinary courier drop.

It is routine for us. Tell us the unit name and we handle the paperwork with your clearing agent. What you need to have ready is the unit name as registered in the zone, and your clearing agent's contact.

The same applies to spares, not just machines. If a line is down inside the zone, call sales rather than ordering online — the part can be confirmed against your machine model before it ships, and the gate paperwork can start at the same time.

Where is the office, and how fast is service?

Kandivali West, and the same day on anything we hold in stock.

See a machine run before you buy

Machines can be seen running at the Kandivali West office. If you are anywhere in Mumbai, it is worth doing. How a machine picks up stones is much easier to judge in person than from a specification sheet, and an hour in the demo room settles most of the questions a brochure leaves open.

Contact sales to arrange a time.

Common questions

Do you supply units inside SEEPZ?

Yes. SEEPZ is a customs-bonded zone, so delivery follows the zone's own gate and documentation procedure. Tell us the unit name and we will handle the paperwork with your clearing agent.

How fast can you get a spare to a Mumbai unit?

Stocked spares, silicone and mounting bases dispatch the same day from Mumbai; sorting trays and suction nozzles in about 1 to 2 days. For a line that is down, call sales rather than ordering online, so the part can be confirmed against your machine model before it ships.

Can we see a machine running before ordering?

Yes. Contact sales to arrange a demonstration at the Kandivali West office. Seeing how a machine picks up stones in person tells you more than a specification sheet does.

Where is the Semsons Tech office in Mumbai?

Semsons Plaza, Gaurav Garden Complex, Bandar Pakhadi Road, Kandivali West, Mumbai 400067. It is the head office, the demo room and the spares store, and it has been the Mumbai base since 1978.

Do you cover Zaveri Bazaar and the Bharat Diamond Bourse?

Yes, along with Andheri, Malad, Borivali, Goregaon and the rest of the city. The office is in Kandivali West, so the western suburbs are a short drive and the rest of Mumbai is same-day reach.

Which setting machine do most SEEPZ units buy?

The X4 Pro Plus double-station machine. It sets 15,000 stones an hour across all stations from a four-tray feed holding 12,800 stones, holds ±0.02 mm, and does the work of 10 to 12 skilled manual setters. Smaller workshops in Andheri and Malad more often start with the single-station Pro Mini at up to 10,000 stones an hour.

Do these machines need a three-phase connection?

No. Both setting machines run on ordinary single-phase 220 V. The X4 Pro Plus draws 3 kVA at peak and the Pro Mini draws 1.3 kW, so a normal workshop supply is enough.

Why are machine prices not shown on the site?

Because the price depends on the configuration you need, where it is being delivered and how much installation work is involved, so any number shown here would be wrong for most buyers. Send us your stone sizes, monthly volume and current setting method and you will get a direct quotation.
